H. E. the President of Costa Rica and IDS alum, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, gives the IDS Annual Lecture 2020.

Covid-19 is a health crisis and an economic crisis facing countries across the world. H. E. the President of Costa Rica and IDS alum, Carlos Alvarado Quesada, will discuss the need for national and international responses to the pandemic that do not further delay the urgent progress needed to address climate change and social inequalities.

Special guest: Farhana Yamin, an environmental lawyer and a leading scholar-activist on climate change who will join a discussion with H.E. Carlos Alvarado Quesada after his lecture. In her distinguished career she has advised many countries, including Costa Rica in climate change negotiations and will discuss further with the President what the current challenges and priorities are in the lead up to the COP26 climate summit next year.
